Scented laundry powder

A more luxurious and fresh smelling version of my Homemade laundry powder.
I just love my Homemade laundry powder. I've been making my classic Homemade laundry detergent for years and while I've tried some commercial products on occasion, I've always gone back to my homemade one. However, I recently tried upgrading this homemade laundry powder as well and created this fancy version!
This scented homemade laundry detergent will leave your clothes clean, soft, and comes out to a fraction of the price of commercial ones. And that counts in a family with kids where laundry is done several times a day!
The basic version of laundry powder that I use contains laundry soap and washing soda, that's it. This "fancy" version also contains baking soda and essential oils, which you can mix and match as you prefer. 😉

What is scented laundry detergent made of?
This scented washing powder is made up of just 4 ingredients, which are also great to buy in stock! So you can make your laundry detergent whenever you run out, and you can jazz it up with a different scent each time.
List of ingredients you will need for making this scented laundry powder:
- Washing soda - or sodium carbonate. It is a strongly alkaline inorganic compound in the form of odorless white powder. It removes dirt and odors , disinfects clothes and improves the properties of soap. Washing soda is very effective in deep cleaning laundry, removing grease and stubborn stains.
Baking soda - or sodium bicarbonate. It is used to neutralize odors and as a stain remover. It also helps soften the water to make the detergent work more effectively.
Washing soda with baking soda can also be bought very cheaply in bulk and will last you for years if stored properly.
- Plant-based soap - Laundry soaps are usually made from coconut or olive oil. I prefer to use plant-based soap made from coconut oil because it has a mild scent that doesn't overpower the essential oils, a nice texture, and a white or creamy color.
Olive oil soap has a very characteristic scent that overpowers the essential oils. It also has an olive green color, which does not look very nice in washing powder. But it works really well and is perfect for even the most sensitive skin. However, I would recommend it in a simpler laundry detergent where essential oils are not added.
Essential Oils - Essential oils deodorize and make laundry detergent and laundry smell lovely. Depending on the type of oil used, they can also be antimicrobial and antibacterial.
My favorite combination for laundry is a combination of Lemon, Lavender and Tea Tree. But you can also try other combinations or ready mixed essential oil blends.

More ideas for essential oil combinations:

Orange + Mandarin + Bergamot

Zůstane prádlo voňavé i po uschnutí?
Thanks to essential oils, the powder smells great and leaves a fresh scent even on wet laundry. However, the scent slowly disappears. It's a natural product after all, and it's best to accept that laundry simply won't smell any longer. It's not advisable to add too much essential oil to washing powder, as it can leave stains on clothes.
Is homemade scented laundry powder suitable for allergy and eczema sufferers?
Yes, this laundry powder is suitable for people who suffer from allergy and eczema. However, what is important is how they react to washing soda and baking soda. These substances are alkaline and someone may be more sensitive to them. I would also pay close attention to the choice of essential oils , where not only the quality matters, but also the type of oil you use.
I personally have had atopic eczema since I was a child and I can tolerate this powder very well. It was also the reason I started making the laundry powder years ago - I couldn't find any commercial product that didn't irritate me. I also use this detergent for baby clothes and diapers and it works great for me. If you are hesitant to use the powder, I recommend trying it in smaller amounts first.

How to use this homemade laundry powder?
The amount of laundry powder that you need may vary according to the amount of clothes and soiling of the laundry. Use 1-2 tablespoons of the powder for the best results. However, a relatively small amount of powder is enough for a great cleaning effect. I definitely recommend starting with a smaller amount of powder and you can gradually increase as needed.

No zneutralizuje cast te sody, takze snizi ucinnost. Naopak do machadla bude super, protoze zneutralizuje to,co zbyde v latce po vyprání a mohlo by drazdit.
