Soap with Himalayan salt

A soap with great benefits for sensitive and irritated skin, which is so beautiful that you can even gift it to your loved ones.

Have you ever tried making scented soap at home? The magic of making homemade soaps was something that eluded me for a long time too, but I've finally grown to love it and I have to admit, it's a lot of fun! What's more, it's great fun for kids too.

And when I say make soap, I mean using the Melt&Pour- method. Which means you just need to get a soap base, which you then melt in a water bath. You add ingredients to the melted soap depending on what you have at home or what exactly you need the soap for. You pour the mixture into the mold and once it hardens, you have a beautiful soap, with almost no work.

Why make soap at home using the Melt&Pour method?

The Melt&Pour method of soap making is simply the easiest method! Unlike "real" soap making from oils and lye, there's no weighing, precise measuring (or) lye required. Someone has already done that work for you and created a ready-made soap base..

Where can I get a ready-made soap base?

Ready-made soap bases are now easily found in online stores. These are simple plant-based soaps that are usually sold in 1 kg quantities, so you can make a lot of soaps! Ready-made bases are sold either transparent or opaque, ranging in color from white or beige to honey or brown. You can also get soap already enriched with various healing or moisturizing ingredients such as Shea butter, donkey milk, honey or Aloe Vera.

Such a simple base invites you to embellish and decorate! And that's where the fun begins. Imagine the possibilities! I chose two of the add-ons this time. Yeah, just two! Coarse-grained pink Himalayan salt and essential oils of Rosemary and Orange in a wonderfully moisturizing, lightly foaming base with Shea Butter. <3

The resulting soaps are perfect as gifts for your loved ones , not just at Christmas but any time of the year! You can add whatever the person likes, like a scent or color. And you can also play around with the packaging of the soaps! I like to wrap them in clear cellophane, tie them with linen string or jute and add a tag with the ingredients (because what if someone is allergic to any ingredient?).

Can I add something other than Himalayan salt to the soap?

You can add a lot of ingredients to soap! If you don't have Himalayan salt, it can be substituted with coarse sea salt or even Epsom salt. If using salt in your soap seems inappropriate, you can add crushed oatmeal, coarsely ground coffee beans, or use the beauty of dried flowers in the same way (finely chopped dried rose petals, lavender, chamomile, jasmine or calendula are wonderful).

What is Himalayan salt?

Himalayan salt is a pink-colored salt- that is extracted from a salt mine located near the Himalayas. This salt probably originated millions of years ago and is usually minimally processed, making it much more natural than ordinary table salt. Himalayan salt is mainly made up of sodium chloride, but can contain up to 84 other minerals and trace elements. And it is these substances (especially iron) that give the salt its characteristic pink color.

What are the health benefits of Himalayan salt on the skin?

Himalayan salt has many health benefits, especially for the skin. It can soothe and treat acne, eczema, psoriasis and various viral, bacterial and fungal skin infections. It also helps with excessive odor and sweating and can even soothe irritated skin after insect bites.

Himalayan salt soap is an excellent cleanser for people with very dry skin, as with regular use it can reduce the irritation and redness of dry skin and help bring back its natural balance.

How to use soap with Himalayan salt?

This soap can be used in the usual way, by applying it directly to the skin and then washing it off with lukewarm water. However, if you want to take full benefit of the power of Himalayan salt, the best way is to create a bath. Fill a bathtub or a larger basin (if you only want to wash a part of your body) with warm water and leave the soap with Himalayan salt in it for about 5-10 minutes to help the soap dissolve.
